Clinics - instructional session
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Based on the answers to a camper questionnaire, campers are broken down into groups of six or eight players. These groups are based on experience and ability — Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. This way the camper works within his or her peer group and can get the most out of the sessions. Our on-ice and off-ice sessions are tailored to the group’s ability.
The on-ice student:teacher ratio is 4:1 or 8:1 depending on the session. We may have a large group meet for the introduction of a topic, but then break off to smaller groups with their instructor for drills and further personal instruction. The majority of our campers are in the beginner and intermediate groupings… however, we do have a number of competitive teams who attend the camp.
With our three-day camps, instructional clinics are typically staged during the first two days. On the final day, campers participate in “Game Situation Analysis” games where instructors are assigned to four person teams to provide input on strategy, shot options, and reinforce the lessons learned over the weekend.
